Anger in Spain Over Vinícius' Statements

The Brazilian international star of Real Madrid, Vinícius Júnior, has provoked anger among Spanish newspapers and media, particularly those close to Madrid, with his recent statements. He called for the 2030 World Cup not to be held in Spain if racism persists.

In a press interview, Vinícius said: "In Spain, most people are not racist; they are a minority. But I love being here, I love playing for Real Madrid, and I want the best conditions to live with my family."

He added: "I hope Spain evolves and understands the seriousness of insulting someone because of their skin color, because if things don’t change by 2030, the location of the World Cup should be changed."

He added, "If players don’t feel comfortable and confident playing in a country where they might face racism, it will be extremely complicated."

He concluded, "I believe and want to do everything I can to make things change because the majority are not racist, but there is a small group that affects the image of the country where people live very well."
